Identities | who we are in light of who God is and what he has done in Jesus.
We recognize that who we are impacts what we do and how we do it.
In fact, who God is explains what God does which shapes us into who we are which impacts what we do. It all comes back to who God is and that defines who we are as his people, the church. We emphasize our identities because we want to examine who we are as a church not just what we are to do as a church.
It is about being the church, not just going to church.
Jesus instructs his followers to go into the world to share him and make disciples. When someone becomes a Jesus-follower (disciple) they are baptized into a new identity. They are baptized into the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).
The church is centered on Jesus. He is the authority. The church is through Jesus and because of Jesus. It is all about Jesus.
God is our Father and we are His Family. We are children of God who care for each other as a family.
As Jesus was sent, He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit to participate in His mission. We are a sent people.
Jesus is our King and we are His Servants. We are servants of Jesus who serve Him by serving others.
