The Christmas story can be seen as quite glamorous when we look at the pristine manger displays in fancy stores or our grandparents living rooms. In reality, it was messy and it occurred in ways that were unexpected involving people that one wouldn’t expect. This series reminds us how right from the start God surprises us with humility and with his heart to know, invite, and connect with the least, lost and lacking. This is good news! As we are lost and lacking, as we fall short, we can be assured that God is for us. We don't need to fix ourselves to come to God. We don't need to clean ourselves up before God will accept us. God comes to us and meets us in our mess. He fixes us. He cleans us up. He does this through Jesus. Through shocking humility and bloody agony God meets us in our human need as a human in need. This unexpected story starts with the coming of a King in the First Christmas. Join us as we remember the shock and glory of Christmas.
